2017 Wickline Scholars

WFED Education Committee is honored to formally announce our 2017 Wickline Scholarship Recipients!

The Education Committee received a total of eleven scholarship applications.  All applicants were very deserving and provided strong applications.  Three applicants were selected; each scholar will receive an award of $1,300.

Congratulations:

Tara Baird

Tara is a single mom of twins who has overcome great obstacles.  She seeks to become financial stability.  She has been attending Los Rios Community College and has recently transferred to Sacramento State University, seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.  She is on track to graduate at the end of the Fall 2018 semester.  Tara has been serving her community through Green Valley Church’s Hope House program.  Tara is also pursuing Federal Pell Grants; she estimates the cost for the 17-18 school year will be $10,000.

Danielle Whittemore

Danielle is also a single mom who is seeking higher education to better her life for herself and her daughter.  She has been attending Folsom Lake College since 2010, taking one class per semester.  Danielle works for the El Dorado County Animal Shelter.  Her goal is to be able to attend college full-time at Sacramento State University and earn a degree in Biological Sciences.  Her daughter will graduate from high school this year and will be attending college next year as well.  Danielle is pursuing Federal Pell Grants as well; she estimates the cost for the 17-18 school year will be $6,934.


Janine Wilson

Janine is a divorced mother of two (2) daughters.  Her immediate goal is to graduate from Folsom Lake College in the Fall of 2017 and then transfer to Sacramento State University in the spring of 2018, working toward a degree in Business Administration.  Janine has been attending Folsom Lake College full-time since 2015.  She has been giving back to the community through volunteer work with the Girl Scouts and Hands 4 Hope.  She is also applying for FAFSA.  She estimates she needs $2,000 for the 2017 Fall semester.
