The Lighthouse Fund was created in June 2013 as a beacon of hope for uninsured or underinsured women and children on the western slope of El Dorado County to help with medical, dental or optical assistance. The Fund was established by a Women’s Fund El Dorado member in memory of a loved one.
What the fund does
The Lighthouse fund provides up to $500 of financial assistance annually to uninsured or under-insured women and children for medical, mental-health, dental and optical needs.
Since 2013, the LightHouse Fund has awarded more than $16,000 to 40 individuals in our community.
how to receive assistance
Individuals share their need with an El Dorado County western slope nonprofit agency (such as a church, school or community organization). If a nonprofit does not have an application they should request an application via email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
The sponsoring nonprofit submits a grant request to the Lighthouse Fund on behalf of the woman or child.
Grant requests are processed by the WFED LightHouse Committee within 48 hours.
While WFED administers the granting process, funding of the LightHouse Fund is independent of WFED and no membership donations go into the fund. You can donate directly to the LightHouse Fund, here.
